Definition of Occupation

A licensed professional who provides clients with help finding meaningful employment or help to successfully return to their previous jobs. They work with individuals with physical injury, handicap, mental disorders, and substance abuse, providing them with encouragement and essential information. They may also provide support to others experiencing job loss, job stress, or other career transition issues.

Vocational counselor offer career counseling, testing, and evaluation. They explore and evaluate a client's education, training, work history, interests, skills, and personality traits. They help individuals develop their job-search skills, organize a resume, assist in applying for jobs, and help set up interviews. In addition these counselors may help address issues that arise after employment to help ensure job stability.
