Definition of Occupation

Plans and designs indoor and outdoor spaces that are in ecological and aesthetic harmony with their surroundings, and construct structures and spaces that are both ecologically sustainable and environmentally safe. Considers clients' needs, health/safety standards and the public good. Designs residential, commercial, institutional, single or multi-building complexes. May work on all aspects of a project or specialize in one phase of work such as building technology, one type of building such as hospitals or one specialty area such as historic preservation. Works in architectural firms, state/federal government agencies or may teach in colleges/universities.
