Definition of Occupation

Enforce law and order in rural or unincorporated districts or serve legal processes of courts. May patrol courthouse, guard court or grand jury, or escort defendants. They enforce the law on the county level. Sheriffs perform duties similar to those of a local or county police chief. A deputy sheriff in a large agency will have law enforcement duties similar to those of officers in urban police departments.
