Agricultural Technicians

Definition of Occupation

Agricultural technicians set up and maintain laboratory equipment and collect samples from crops or animals. Most science technicians specialize, working in the same disciplines in which scientists work. Agricultural technicians work with agricultural scientists in food, fiber, and animal research, production, and processing. Some prepare specimens and record data to assist scientists with tests and experiments to improve the yield and quality of crops or to increase the resistance of plants and animals to disease, insects, or other hazards. Others do animal breeding and nutrition work.
