Definition of Occupation
Advise clients on financial plans, utilizing knowledge of tax and investment strategies, securities, insurance, pension plans, and real estate. Duties include assessing clients' assets, liabilities, cash flow, insurance coverage, tax status, and financial objectives to establish investment strategies. They gather financial information, analyze it, and make recommendations to their clients. Also called financial planners or financial consultants, financial advisors address such issues as retirement and estate planning, and funding for college. Although most planners offer advice on a wide range of topics, some specialize in areas such as retirement and estate planning or risk management.
