Definition of Occupation

Assessors work for the government. They assess property to determine its fair value. May assess taxes in accordance with prescribed schedules. They analyze trends in sales prices, construction costs, and rents in order to assess property values and/or determine the accuracy of of assessments. Approve applications for property tax exemptions or deductions. Calculate tax bills for properties. Complete and maintain assessment roles that show the assessed values and status of all property in a municipality. They conduct regular reviews within jurisdictions in order to determine changes in property.
