Definition of Occupation

Designs, develops, publishes and maintains an organization's Intranet and/or Internet presence. May be responsible for the graphic design, content, hypertext markup language (HTML) programming, maintenance, augmentation and improvement of a website, and in some cases, maintaining the server where the website resides. Manages technical support for problems related to the website. Evaluates links, coordinates scripting, registers with popular search engines and maintains cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility so website is accessible from a variety of different environments. Job responsibilities vary widely depending on the scope of the web effort, the maturity of the web within the organization, the type of company and the skills of the individual.
