Computer Network Manager

Definition of Occupation

Responsible for the planning, operation and management of a LAN (local area network--at one location) or WAN (wide area network--connecting multiple locations). Both systems connect individual computers, allowing them to communicate with one another, share files, databases, software applications and peripheral equipment. LANs connect smaller computers and are usually specific to location or department (usually in small businesses or departments of large organizations). WANs usually connect larger computers over geographically dispersed regions and are found in large corporations and government agencies.
