Vending Machine Mechanic  

Definition of Occupation

Installs, adjusts and maintains coin/currency or debit card operated machines that dispense goods or provide services. Goods can include hot and cold beverages, fresh or frozen foods, snacks, newspapers or cigarettes. Services can include giving change for dollar bills, shining shoes, storing luggage, etc. Amusement machine mechanics do similar work on video games, pin-ball and slot machines, juke boxes, etc. May also act as servicer/route person (more often for small vending machine company) and fill machines at their locations with goods and/or coins on regular schedule and collect money from machines. Also responsible for inspecting and keeping machines clean to comply with state and local public health standards. Employed by vending machine companies who pay commissions to owners for the placement of machines on their property.
