Definition of Occupation

Creates, finances, organizes, manages and assumes risks of a business that sells a product/service for which there is already a market and customer demand, or may create new market. May be single owner, in partnership or team. May begin at any stage in life--during high school/college, after graduation, dropping out of school, changing jobs, etc. Includes working part- or full-time. Venture may be small--one person in home-based business--or large with several hundred employees. Many occupations in SIGI PLUS have entrepreneurial potential for those interested in starting business based on their work experience.
