Definition of Occupation
Licensed primary health professional who provides spinal analysis, chiropractic adjustments and general wellness health care with special emphasis on nervous system function. Treats problems primarily through biomechanical manipulation together with advice on exercise, nutrition, diet and lifestyle modification. Stresses preventive measures. May also use physiotherapies such as ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation as adjunctive treatments. Does not perform surgery or write prescriptions for drugs. May specialize in areas such as radiology, orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics or sports medicine. Most work in single or group practice. Others work in health maintenance organizations, industrial programs or chiropractic colleges.
