Collision Repair Specialist
Definition of Occupation
Evaluates, repairs and refinishes damaged vehicles. Work may include straightening frames and structural repairs, removing and replacing damaged parts, metal or plastic repair work and painting vehicles. Work varies with size and location of shop. Some specialize in one type of repair, painting or refinishing. Smaller shops may do all kinds of work. Most work on cars and light trucks, but may also repair buses, tractor trailers and other vehicles. Most employed in independent shops; others in car and truck dealerships, truck/car/bus fleets, franchised repair centers and the new vehicle manufacturing industry. Some are self-employed.
