Definition of Occupation

Handles wide range of banking transactions for customers and records transactions. Cashes checks, accepts deposits and loan payments, processes withdrawals, and sells savings bonds, travelers' checks and cashier's checks. In a small bank, may also open new accounts. Often has the opportunity to cross-sell financial products/services. May specialize as a commercial teller, savings teller, savings bond teller, vault teller or in handling foreign currencies and travelers' checks. Works in community, commercial and savings banks, credit unions and other financial institutions.
