Definition of Occupation

Installs, maintains and repairs communication systems consisting of networks of cables, wires, lines, poles and auxiliary equipment. Telephone network provides two-way transmission from any client to any other phone number--in U.S. or abroad. Most cable TV networks have one-way transmission, but full duplex/interactive systems becoming increasingly common.

NOTE: Profile does not cover technicians working in telephone company offices/buildings that house central switching equipment etc., or technicians involved in production/original transmission of cable TV programs.
