Definition of Occupation

Makes or repairs crowns, bridges, dentures and orthodontic appliances ordered by dentists, orthodontists or prosthodontists to correct and adjust natural teeth lost or damaged by disease or accident or for cosmetic improvement of bite or oral abnormalities. Fills prescriptions in laboratory setting following detailed instructions provided by dentist. Five specialty areas--crown and bridge, ceramics, partial dentures, complete dentures and orthodontic appliances. Usually does not work directly with patients. Employed in commercial or self-owned laboratories, dental/orthodontic offices, institutions or by dental manufacturing or supply companies.
