Expert in public management and administrative techniques who manages day-to-day operations of government and public service agencies, analyzes effectiveness of current policies and helps plan future operations. Must pursue policies and goals determined by governing body (usually elected), but decides how best to implement them; may recommend alternatives. May work in municipal, special district, county, state or federal government or in agency operating in several jurisdictions.NOTE: public administration has much in common with administration in medium- and large-sized nonprofit organizations.
