Definition of Occupation

Cuts, fits and assembles wood and other material in the construction, remodeling and repair of structures including residential and commercial buildings, scaffolding, docks, tunnel supports, bridges. May work on all phases of wood construction or specialize in one or more areas--framing, trim-work, laying hardwood floors, remodeling, restoration etc. Must have knowledge of local building codes. May work outside the construction industry in repair and maintenance or in industries that manufacture products such as furniture, architectural millwork, boats and prefabricated houses. About one-third are self-employed.
