Definition of Occupation

Studies chemical/molecular composition and behavior of cells and their compounds. Identifies, isolates and analyzes effects of hormones, allergens, enzymes etc. on complex biochemical processes as they relate to appropriate biological function or response such as birth, gene expression, development, reproduction, metabolism, immunology, movement, aging and death. Examines the reactions of isolated molecules to diet, drugs and diseases, and effect of the environment on living tissue. May develop new biological therapeutic products and diagnostic tests. Applications in wide range of fields including medicine, nutrition, agriculture, pharmacology and environmental management. Employment in basic research in academia and industry or applied research and development in industry.
