Definition of Occupation

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) divides Air Traffic Control (ATC) into three specializations according to work location: Terminal, Center and Flight Service Station. Terminal and Center Specialists actively control aircraft and airspace. Flight Service Station Specialist, not covered in this profile, provides an advisory service to pilots and relays information between pilots and air traffic control facilities at terminals and en route centers.
