Definition of Occupation
Practices medicine with supervision of a licensed physician. Conducts physical exams, diagnoses and treats diseases, orders and interprets tests, counsels on preventive health care, assists in surgery and in nearly all states can write prescriptions. Over half are in primary care medicine--family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology. May also specialize in surgery or surgical subspecialities or emergency medicine.
