Hospital/Managed Care Administrator  

Definition of Occupation

Acts as head, assistant or departmental administrator in hospital, health maintenance organization (HMO), preferred provider organization (PPO), ambulatory surgical center, university medical school, clinic or community health center. Head administrator is responsible for seeing that policies established by company (or board of directors of nonprofit organization) are carried out and that high-quality services are delivered efficiently; in large organization, he/she delegates much responsibility to administrators in charge of particular functions such as nursing or human resources; in small organization, less delegating occurs.
