Radiologist
Definition of Occupation
A licensed medical doctor specializing in the use of diagnostic imaging technology, radiation therapy and/or interventional radiology. Most are diagnostic radiologists who examine patients using x-rays, radioactive substances, magnetic fields and ultrasound waves. About 15 percent are radiation oncologists who treat cancer patients using radiation equipment and radioactive materials. Typically employed in hospitals, medical centers, outpatient imaging centers, private practices, managed care organizations and medical schools.
