Definition of Occupation

Instructs K-12 school children in basic movement skills, fitness, sports, gymnastics, games, aquatics and dance. Increasing emphasis on lifelong fitness and physical activity for all students. May specialize in adapted physical education, teaching children with severe disabilities in special schools; most children with disabilities are in mainstream schools and take part in regular programs, including physical education classes. May conduct school-sponsored athletic programs outside of school hours for extra pay. May be required to teach subjects such as health, driver education, first aid, safety and family life if certified in these specialties.
