Definition of Occupation

Runs experience-based instructional program to prepare students to be knowledgeable about technology--its evolution, systems, technologies, utilization and social and cultural significance. Teaches the application of mathematics and science concepts to technological systems in areas such as, but not limited to: construction, manufacturing, transportation, communication, energy and power, medical, agricultural and bio-related technologies. Encourages students to discover, create, innovate, solve problems and construct solutions by using a variety of tools, machines, computer systems, materials, processes and technological systems. Teaches in public, private and parochial schools. Usually teaches 6th or 7th through 12th grade. Some run simplified programs in primary schools.
