Word Processor  

Definition of Occupation

Uses computer with word processing applications to enter, format, edit, proof, print and/or save material in computer/computer network or on disks. Types from drafts, dictated transcripts, roughs or pre-printed material containing text, figures and/or graphs. Many also use spreadsheet, database and presentation software applications. A few work with special keyboards and process materials containing technical symbols or international alphabets. May work in business, industry, government or nonprofit sector.

NOTE: Word processors seldom use typewriters (except when preparing forms with duplicate copies such as purchase orders etc.). Typing as a separate occupation has almost disappeared.
