Court Clerk  

Definition of Occupation

Performs non-judicial clerical duties in courts of law. Title applies to a wide range of workers. May work in municipal, county, state or federal courts. Duties vary markedly depending on size, type and level of court served. Some clerks perform many routine clerical tasks; others have special assignments such as swearing in new citizens, maintaining court calendar, preparing and processing various specialized court documents and reviewing legal documents for completeness and accuracy. Not to be confused with Clerk of Court, who is an elected official.
