Social Service Technician/Aide  

Definition of Occupation

Assists professional staff in providing services to clients of social service agencies. Performs any combination of the following tasks: conducts routine interviews, makes referrals, does paperwork, transports clients, monitors and keeps case records and reports on client's' progress. May do outreach work with children, the underprivileged, the elderly, non-English speaking or other clients. Some positions may restrict work tasks to a specific role such as interviewing applicants for public assistance. Amount of responsibility and supervision varies greatly.
