Definition of Occupation

Health care professional who administers to the physical and psycho-social needs of patients/clients in broad range of settings. Sixty percent hold staff positions in hospitals; may specialize in particular area of nursing--e.g., maternity, oncology, cardiac care, intensive care, emergency or operating rooms etc. Others are employed in offices, facilities and agencies that provide out-patient services, home health care, long-term care and/or promote health maintenance and disease prevention. Some work in sales or teach in colleges and universities.
