Definition of Occupation

Real estate salesperson is licensed professional who provides services to public under supervision of real estate broker on contractual basis in return for commissions on property transactions. Real estate broker is licensed to provide real estate services to public and to supervise salespersons. Each office has at least one broker (sometimes called broker of record) who has final responsibility for all business conducted there. Salesperson who obtains broker's license can establish own office, manage branch office of large company or remain under contract to broker of record as a broker salesperson. Salespersons and brokers are often called real estate agents. Most work with residential sales and rentals. Some specialize in commercial, industrial or agricultural real estate.
