Records people, places, objects and events accurately or artistically using a variety of cameras, lenses, film types, electronic imaging equipment, traditional photographic processes and computer software packages. Major specialties: portraiture--individuals, groups, social events; industrial or corporate--products, processes, annual reports; commercial, advertising, illustrative--brochures, catalogs, magazines, architecture, food, fashion modeling etc.; photojournalism--newsworthy events, locations, people, things; fine art--photographs as art medium; and scientific/medical. May work in portrait or commercial studio, industry, advertising agency, magazine publisher, newspaper, government agency or may freelance. About one-half self-employed. May teach in photography school, high school, college or university.
