Definition of Occupation

Provides basic bedside care to sick, injured, disabled and elderly patients at the direction of physicians and/or registered nurses (RNs) in many health care settings. In hospital, may work in specialized wings such as burn unit, nursery, operating room etc. Many work in long term care facilities, hospices, physicians' offices, community health clinics or perhaps as private duty nurses. A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is called a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in California and Texas.
