Definition of Occupation

Uses observations and knowledge of mathematics and physical sciences to study atmosphere. Two major specializations: may work in applications/operations forecasting occurrence and movement of weather features (clouds, temperature, rain, snow etc.) or theoretical/research studying atmosphere's properties and behavior including its' climate. Largest single employer is National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Weather Agency (NOAA); most of NOAA's meteorologists work in National Weather Service (NWS). Others work for commercial weather companies, air quality/environmental firms, radio and television stations, colleges/universities and the military.
