Definition of Occupation

Solves or directs the solution of problems using higher mathematics. Pure or theoretical mathematicians conduct research to discover, create and develop new mathematical principles or new relationships between existing principles. Applied mathematicians develop and use mathematical principles and methods (including algorithms) to find solutions to practical problems in science, business, engineering, industry etc. Applied mathematicians can specialize in areas such as computational fluid dynamics, computational physics, operations research, systems engineering, computer science, statistics, cryptology and financial planning. May consult, teach and/or do research.
