Industrial Transportation Specialist
Definition of Occupation
Arranges for shipments of raw/partially processed materials and/or finished products. In manufacturing company, uses either own fleet or external carriers--or combination of both--to move incoming materials and outgoing products; may ship by road, rail, air or water. In large retail chain, is responsible for arranging transportation services from distribution centers to individual stores. In carrier company, coordinates shipments among many different types of enterprise. Occupation is increasingly called logistics specialist.
