Works on improving products, services and practices that affect the living standards of individuals, families and communities. Although some are generalists, most specialize one of the following areas: dietetics, food, nutrition and fitness, human environments, apparel and textiles design and merchandising, hospitality, human development and family science, consumer economics and financial planning, consumer journalism or education. Employed in education, government, research, business, communications, health and human services etc.
