Funeral Director
Definition of Occupation
Arranges and directs details of funeral services, burials or cremations. Coordinates transportation of body to mortuary for embalming, interviews family or authorized person to determine preferences and to assist in decisions, procures official for religious rites and arranges transportation for mourners. May be owner, manager or licensed employee of a funeral home or homes. May hold both funeral director's and embalmer's licenses; however, most individuals focus on one area or the other. With additional education and qualifications, can teach in college of mortuary science.
