Definition of Occupation
Organizes, plans and conducts nutritional programs for institutions and individuals to improve health and control disease. Influences food choices and nutritional status of the public by advising patients and/or clients on medical nutrition therapy, smart food choices, managing food services, developing food products, teaching students and other health professionals, or conducting research. May specialize in a particular area of nutrition such as diabetes, heart or pediatrics. Many work in medical and health care settings. Other work settings include business and industry, public health, education, research and private practice.
