Definition of Occupation

Assists dentist at chair-side in providing oral health care. May be responsible for business management of dental practice. Often responsible for maintaining and overseeing office infection protocol. May work in general or specialized dentistry--periodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics etc. Some are employed as sales representatives by dental product companies.

DO NOT CONFUSE with dental hygienist, who checks and cleans patients' teeth.
