Definition of Occupation

Plans, designs and oversees public/private construction and maintenance of essential structures: bridges, buildings, tunnels, highways, transit systems, dams, airports, irrigation projects and systems for treating and distributing water, collecting, treating and disposing of wastewater, recycling solid wastes and managing hazardous waste. May specialize in construction, structural, hydraulic, environmental, water resources, transportation, sanitary, surveying or geotechnical engineering. May work in field service, construction, sales, marketing, research, consulting or, with advanced degree, may teach. Most employed by government agencies, consulting firms providing engineering services or construction companies in the private sector.
