Definition of Occupation

Serves as a director of worship, spiritual and moral leader, counselor and teacher for the members of his/her denomination and often the community at large. Delivers sermons, conducts services, administers religious rites, instructs prospective congregation members, and counsels members in need of spiritual advice. Major religions in the U.S. are: Protestant with over 100 groups; Roman Catholic; Jewish with Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist and Reform. May teach in a seminary or college, serve as chaplain in a military service, prison, hospital or campus, or become a missionary in the U.S. or abroad.
